Man found stealing neighbour's lingerie in Perungudi, arrested

On Thursday, the city police arrested a 21-year-old man for allegedly stealing lingerie and innerwear that belonged to a girl, who lived in his neighbourhood. Police say that 19-year-old Kausalya (name changed) recently caught the man red-handed after he walked into a trap set by her. Following this, he was taken to the Thoraipakkam police station.
According to the police, Parasuraman (21), who worked as a security guard in a private security agency, lived in Thiruvalluvar Nagar near Perungudi, in an apartment provided by his company. Apparently, Parasuraman had fallen in love with Kausalya, who worked as a computer operator in the same company and lived in the same building too. In fact, her father Raman was also employed with the same concern.
According to the police, Parasuraman found it difficult to express his love for Kausalya when he met her. So he finally decided to write her a love letter. On one occasion, he found her on the terrace of their apartment when she came to hang her washed clothes. This was when he decided to make away with her lingerie on which he intended to write his love note. The following day, Kausalya was surprised to see some of her clothes missing. However, she later found the missing lingerie hanging on the same clothesline on the terrace.
Police say that Kausalya had initially assumed that the wind had blown her clothes away and that someone must have found them and hung them back. In fact, she had also noticed something written on the lingerie. However, she ignored it at the time.
But when her lingerie routinely began disappearing and reappearing, she suspected someone was behind it and decided to catch the troublemaker red-handed. According to the police, on Thursday, Kausalya hung her clothes on the terrace and hid in a shed.
After some time, she noticed Parasuraman come to the terrace, on the pretext of speaking to someone on his cell phone. She saw him look around the place to ensure that no one was around. Following this, he walked upto the clothesline and picked a few pieces of her lingerie and put them into a bag.
Kausalya and her father immediately approached the Thoraipakkam police station and lodged a complaint against Parasuraman. Later, the police picked him up and took him into custody. Enquiries revealed that Parasuraman was in a one- sided relationship with Kausalya.
On Thursday, the police arrested and remanded him to judicial custody after producing him before the magistrate court in Saidapet. The police said that he was booked under the Prevention of Harassment Against Women Act.
